This project aims to establish pilot-scale equipment and process technologies for producing AEMEC MEAs based on PGM-free anode catalysts using a continuous roll-to-roll catalyst-coated membrane (Roll-CCM) process. ACOT will focus on Roll-CCM equipment design and fabrication, intermittent coating, drying–lamination process integration, ink formulation optimization, and MEA performance and durability evaluation. Fraunhofer IFAM will contribute to building a European-standard AEM evaluation and validation framework and support AEMEC/MEA performance verification.

The Roll-CCM process technology developed through this project is expected to be applicable not only to AEMECs, but also to PEMEC and PEMFC MEA production. Through this global R&D collaboration, ACOT will continue to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities in polymer electrolyte-based hydrogen production and fuel cell technologies.
